Japanese Units of Measurement
The tsubo (坪), which is the area of two standard sized tatami mats, is still commonly used in discussing land pricing in Japan. A tatami has an aspect ratio of 2:1. Two pieces of tatami placed side-by-side along their length will form a square measuring 1 tsubo in area.
